Histirical significance
The 20 Rials banknote from the 1944 (1323 SH) issue features a striking orange and reddish-coral color palette, printed in London by Harrison & Sons. The obverse displays a military-attired portrait of the young Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi on the right, surrounded by delicate geometric lathework, intricate corner columns, and the central state emblem framed by calligraphic denomination text.
The reverse features a detailed engraving of the famous Veresk Railroad Bridge, showcasing mid-century engineering triumph nestled high within steep mountain cliffs. Issued under Bank Melli authority with dual official signatures, this note remains a classic example of wartime security printing and a standout piece from the 1323 SH series.
